LOCKED IN EILEEN

Never have i been closer to my grandmother than i was during lockdown. Every single day i visited her, I felt at peace seeing her, sitting on the porch, drinking tea and biscuits, perfect blackcurrant squash mixed the same way since my childhood. We would talk for hours, about the history of Elmers End, about my father and brothers childhood, and gossiping about current affairs. We rarely talked about covid, we wanted to distract ourselves from the world crumbling around us.
