Thomas Norris (23) is deeply fascinated by nature and its mysteries. This fascination has led them to explore esoteric practices, feeling strongly connected to the land, sea, and the spirits surrounding and within them. As they start their mystical journey, every experience feels full of wonder and discovery. They have also found a wonderful community of like-minded individuals who provide support and a sense of belonging.
This work showcases Thomas’s early exploration of spiritually significant places to them. The work aims to capture the essence of this initial phase, where they heavily rely on their senses. Thomas documents what they see, hear, smell, and feel using the camera. Using these sensory experiences to navigate and understand the mystical worlds around them, each photo reflects their quest for understanding, capturing the ethereal and unseen, and potentially revealing glimpses of spiritual entities and energies through light and shadow. This artistic effort not only records their journey but also aims to go beyond the physical, offering a poetic look into their esoteric exploration.
Kynance Cove, for me, all started with "The Valley of Trelamia" by Peter Redgrove, a story that simply enchanted me from the moment I listened to the audiobook. It follows the story of a writer who goes on holiday in the deepest Cornwall to a place said to be inhabited by a great snake. It mentions The Lizard, a place that I have not explored much, and something about hearing this story made me feel this absolute pull to it. The Lizard feels different; there is something in the air, the land, and the sea that sets it apart. The green and red serpentine winding its way through the deepest earth then bursting out where it can be seen glistening on the beaches, gently polished by the movements of the ocean.
